one year ago

dear forest,

one year ago today (labor day) you were born.
i remember waking up in the night to use the bathroom, going back to sleep, and then waking up again 10 minutes later. and again ten minutes later. it finally clicked that i was in labor.
a short drive to the hospital at 6 am, laughing at the reception desk with my cousin who happened to be working, and then being admitted an hour later. i really was in labor!

a few hours later you were here. you came so fast! i pushed through two contractions and you were out, right there in front of me. someone had to tell me to open my eyes because i was still pushing darn it!

all the worry about having a little boy and all the worry about not loving another baby as much as i loved daphne all left the minute i saw you. you were perfect. you still are.

so glad we decided to have another one, you.
