+ What Exactly Do You Do, Kelly?
Okay, this particular thread is directed towards some of our family members who live in various parts of the country that still ask us "...now what exactly do you do, Kelly?" This ought to sum it up: Kelly went to school for Design & Business, and he currently works as the Art Director for a large surf-inspired clothing retail company called KillerDana.com. There are 3 brick-and-mortar surf shop locations in Southern California and a mail order company that carries stuff like Quiksilver, Hurley, RVCA, Billabong, Paul Frank, DVS, etc. He manages certain items on the website, creates private label products such as t-shirts and boardshorts, and designs advertisements. Making it a family affair, Rachelle has even been on the KillerDana.com payroll. You may recognize her headless torso modeling some of the women's products on the website. She hasn't done any product photos since her belly started growing. They must frown upon expectant mothers modeling swimwear : ) So, hopefully this helps some of you get a little idea of what Kelly does each day to bring home the vegetarian bacon! And of course, to supplement the low income inherent with jobs where surfing on the clock is allowed, Kelly does a lot of freelance design and art work on the side for his little “hobby” companies and other brands in the skate/surf/snow world.
